BIOGAS: electricity from manure was produced in Latvian village Zemgali

PRLog (Press Release)– Jun 11, 2011– Nominal electric power of biogas plant is 500 kW. Plant is equipped with 2400 м3 + 1400 м3  digesters and co-generation unit with 600 kW capacity. Biogas plant was started using liquid manure.  Switching for main feed stock, which is corn silage is planned after the first crop will be harvested.

Latvian company EcoGen SIA's ordered Swiss Zorg Biogas AG all design, equipment and supervision over the construction works. Project lead time from construction till plant commissioning made 9 months. Biogas plant is in operation, despite the fact that adjustment and are improvement works are being finalized.

This biogas plant is one of the three that were designed by Zorg Biogas AG for EcoGen in 2010 and one of the first that was commissioned in the entire country.

It is also reported by press-service of Zorg Biogas AG that company is currently in the final stage of design works for 5 similar plants in Eastern Europe: two in Lithuania, one in Slovakia and two in Greece.
