Thousands of Yorkshire homes are gas safe thanks to Help-Link

PRLog (Press Release)– Jul 27, 2011– Over 7,800 local authority owned homes across the Yorkshire region have all been inspected and repaired as necessary by the company's 130 engineers.

One of the largest central heating specialists in the North of England, Help-Link bmw was awarded the 'super' contract as a result of a collaborative procurement programme managed by the Northern Housing Consortium (NHC).

The consortium corsa is an independent, non-profit making organisation that facilitates colle alfa romeo ctive buying on behalf of its members who include local authorities, housing associations and other organisations involved in housing.

The £2,930,880 contract awarded to Help-Link included the annual gas servicing and provision of Landlord Safety Certificates for 3,885 properties in Harrogate, 2,400 in Selby and 1,600 in Richmondshire.

Commenting on the contract, Help-Link managing director Mel Butler said: "We have worked with Harrogate Borough Council since 2002 and have developed a very successful working relationship with them. Now to be working with Selby and Richmondshire Councils largely because they have seen how effective we have been in the Harrogate is very pleasing.

"It really is down to the fantastic effort of all our en cadillac gineers and support staff. Without their dedication and flexibility we wouldn't have achieved the impressive results we have. One of the biggest challenges we face is gaining access to properties so that we can check tenants' boilers. Most other maintenance companies report a 90-95% success rate, ours is 100%."

Creating 12 dedicated teams, Help-Link planned the servicing programme across the three council districts with military precision. Tenants received a combination of letters and text messages explaining the importance of the visits and were offered a selection of appointment times including early evenings and weekends. The combination of effective communication and convenient appointment times ensured 'zero no access' was achieved – not one single boiler was missed.

Stephen Hargreaves, property services executive officer for Harrogate Borough Council added: "Collaborating with other housing organisations via the NHC brings many benefits for us, not least the opportunity to share common issues and learn from others but also to achieve the best possible value for money contracting. We have been very impressed with Help-Link."
